Totem logs: a journey from the Traditional Territory to the carving shed

Writer: Lemare GroupLemare Group

Tsulquate, B.C. March 9 2021 - The journey of the carving log from Seymour Inlet to its home in the Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw carving shed is a long one, and we are honoured to work with the Nations to move this resource from their Traditional Territory on the Mainland Coast to the community near Port Hardy.

Being granted the opportunity to discuss culture, practice, material needs and process with carvers and cultural leaders is an opportunity to learn and share. We are fortunate to have supportive friends and colleagues providing this opportunity. Gilakas'la, thank you.
